Two Pre-1976 Paragon Workhorses Still Firing

01/26/2010

“We were contacted by the craft center on campus in the union, which was closing. They said they had two very old Paragon kilns we could have and promised us they both still worked. So, we crossed campus to take a look. The kilns were old, the metal on the outside beginning to wear through from heating/cooling/oxidation from years of use. But sure enough they still worked. They now compliment our two newer digital TnF-24 and TnF-82 Paragons in the studio.

“I'm amazed by the old Paragon kilns. They have been in circulation in the studio for close to two years now, just firing along like two old workhorses. I haven't even had to change the elements in them. These two don’t have timers or Kiln Setters. They are great to teach students on as they require the student to control the kiln. They are great. They do their job and they do it consistently.”
