Features

The Paragon BlueBird XL is a dream kiln for the glass bead enthusiast. It safely anneals the glass to prevent breakage during cooling. You can also fuse glass in this large, 20” wide x 9” deep versatile kiln. The BlueBird XL easily reaches fusing temperatures.

The kiln opens doorways of opportunity in beadmaking. The 4 ½” tall, 10” wide double doors give a total of 20” width for inserting bead rods. This kiln is ideal for seminar teachers. It is like having two kilns instead of one.

The BlueBird XL has a user-friendly 3-key Sentry Xpress digital controller. It automatically maintains the annealing temperature that you program. The controller is packed with features but is so easy to use that your child could program it.

The BlueBird XL has durable insulating firebricks in the roof, walls and floor. The element is seated in pinless grooves in the roof. This is a true high performance kiln you will enjoy using often.

Each door includes a latch that holds the door closed. This prevents heat loss while you are fusing glass.

The rugged steel case is light weight, portable, with a slotted base and louvered switch box for long life of the electrical system. The Blue Bird XL plugs into a standard household outlet. The kiln ships by convenient UPS.

The Sentry Xpress 3-key controller is packed with features. It includes two modes: Single Speed and 8-segment Ramp-Hold. The solid state controller continually monitors the firing so you can spend your time productively without closely watching the kiln. The sealed controller touch pad keeps out dust and is easy to wipe clean.

Features of the Sentry Xpress 3-key Controller on Non-Ceramic Paragon Kilns

Design programs with up to 8 segments (steps) in Ramp-Hold mode.

Fire to a single temperature at a single speed in the simplified Single Speed mode.

Ramp-Hold mode can store 4 programs.

Skip a segment in Ramp-Hold during firing.

Change the target temperature in Ramp-Hold during firing.

Hold (soak) the temperature in both Single Speed and Ramp-Hold.

Control both heating and cooling in Ramp-Hold.

Program Review lets you check the program you are about to fire.

A temperature alarm.

Temperature Display throughout firing and cooling in your choice of °F or °C

Thermocouple Offset adjusts the thermocouple readout.

Set the Delay to turn on the kiln later to suit your schedule.

Error Messages report mechanical problems such as a disconnected thermocouple, stuck relay or broken element.
